Position: Temporary Assistant Professor of Physics; available August 12, 2013.
The position is a one-year full-time appointment with the possibility of renewal
for up to three additional years depending on department needs, i.e. a maximum
term of four years.

Responsibilities: We seek a physicist who is strongly committed to quality
undergraduate teaching. Teaching expectations include introductory and advanced
undergraduate physics courses. There are also opportunities to participate in
research involving undergraduate students, although this is not a requirement of
the position.



Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Physics or related field, scheduled completion
by August 12, 2013. Candidates will be evaluated on: Ability to teach a wide
range of courses in an undergraduate physics curriculum; strong commitment to
teaching at the undergraduate level; evidence of teaching effectiveness or
potential teaching effectiveness; effective communication skills; research
experience in physics or related field, as evidenced by peer-reviewed
publications; previous teacher-scholar experience at a liberal arts institution,
plans for and/or previous experience with mentoring undergraduate research
students.

Rank and Salary: Temporary Assistant Professor. Salary is commensurate with
experience. Truman offers an attractive benefits package including life, health,

responsibilities, communication skills, and, if applicable, experience as a
teacher-scholar at a liberal arts institution, and experience or interest in
mentoring undergraduate research; (2) current curriculum vitae; (3) three
letters of recommendation; and (4) scanned copies of undergraduate and graduate
college transcripts. Review of applications will begin February 18, 2012 and
continue until the position is filled. If hired, applicants must provide proof
of eligibility to work in the United States, official graduate transcripts, or
documentation of degrees if transcripts are not available.
